SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE MC-2005 VENTILATED MOTORCYCLE HELMET
SHELL The three-quarter coverage shell is constructed of aircraft quality, light weight thermoset pre-impregnated fiber composite utilizing high pressure molding for increased strength while maintaining the lightest weight possible. Shell edges are finished trim of injection molded neoprene rubber material black in color. Shell is to be manufactured to accept standard fixed patent leather visor. Complete helmet not to exceed 2 lbs. 12 ounces. LINER The inner liner (EPS) to be a 35-40 mm variable thickness liner constructed of a “breathable expanded polystrene” providing maximum cooling and comfort to the wearer. This material is manufactured in such a way that, when installed in the above outer shell, it will attenuate the energy of an impact no less than the Snell 2005 Safety Test Certification. VENTILATION SYSTEM Cooling air is pulled into the helmet as the officer rides through a forehead vent and the ventilation is completed by hot air being exhausted through the interior comfort pad and the breathable expanded polystrene out the rear air exhaust ducts.
INTERIOR FIT SYSTEM AND SIZING Fit is achieved by combining custom cut open cell foam with an advanced polypropylene material that wicks perspiration from the wearer’s head for maximum comfort and warm/cool temperature control. Variances in foam thickness combined with two shell sizes create a sizing range of XS-XXL (fit pad is sized in incremental helmet sizes). The three-piece fit pad (includes ear cavity pieces) is removable for hand washing when soiled. RETENTION SYSTEM Helmet is equipped with retention system securely riveted to the outer shell featuring large, easy-to-use aluminum D-rings and nylon reinforced chin strap. The standard retention system of the helmet will accommodate an optional quick release mechanism without modification. STANDARDS Meets or exceeds SNELL M2005, U.S. Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) FMVSS-218; National Institute of Justice 0104.02 (riot) and 0105.01 (crash).
